Makita Rotary Hammers Deliver Performance, Less Vibration and Dust Extraction
Makita has added two new rotary hammers that combine performance, less vibration and efficient dust extraction with the new 1-inch AVT Rotary Hammers with HEPA Dust Extractor, models HR2651F (Pistol-Grip), and HR2661 (D-Handle). Each have a built-on HEPA dust extractor, and each are equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT), an internal counterbalance system for significantly less vibration.
OSHA Compliant
The HR2651 and HR2661 are compliant with the OSHA respirable crystalline silica rule 29 CFR 1926.1153 under the Performance (Objective Data) Option. Test results are available for download at www.makitatools.com/dustmanagement
“Makita is meeting demand with an expanding line of dust extraction solutions so users can build OSHA-compliant systems,” said David Fernandez, product manager, commercial products, Makita U.S.A. “For users seeking simplicity for concrete drilling applications, the HR2651 and HR2661 have the HEPA filter dust extractor built on the tool, with trigger activation for added convenience.”
Anti-Vibration Technology
Each rotary hammer is equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT). More than a padded or spring-loaded handle, AVT is an internal counterbalance system inside the tool that greatly reduces vibration by moving a counterweight in the opposite direction of the drive piston.
“Due to its relatively low weight, an SDS-Plus rotary hammer is often used for overhead drilling applications,” said Fernandez. “With its high frequency of use, less vibration is strongly preferred for this type of application in order to help increase user comfort. The new HR2651 and HR2661 with AVT® meet this demand.”
Makita offers an AVT hammer solution in every hammer class. The HR2651 and HR2661 are the latest additions to Makita’s line-up of concrete hammers equipped with AVT, including demolition hammers (70 lb., 42 lb., 27 lb., 17 lb.) and rotary hammers (2-, 1-3/4-, 1-9/16-, 1-1/4-, 1-inch).
Built-On Dust Extractor
The built-on dust extractor captures concrete dust during drilling, and is activated by the tool for added convenience. The efficient HEPA filtration system captures 99.97% of particulates .3 microns and larger. The dust container is transparent and provides an accurate level of collected material. It has depth stop adjustment that allows drilling up to 7-7/16-inch deep for increased capacity. Each hammer can also be operated without the removable dust extractor.
Performance and Versatility
The new HR2651 (7 AMP) and HR2661 (8 AMP) each deliver 1.62 ft.lbs. of impact energy. Both hammers offer 3-mode operation for “rotation only”, “hammering with rotation” or “chipping only” for multiple applications. Modes can be easily changed with a recessed hammer-function selector.
Additional features include a variable speed trigger and 40 bit angle settings that allow the bit to be set at different positions. The torque limiting clutch is engineered to prevent gear damage by automatically disengaging gears if the bit binds.
The new HR2651 and HR2661 are engineered for a range of trades and applications, from concrete formwork and mechanical anchors to electrical, HVAC, iron work, and more.
