ASTM Presents Masonry Preservation Services CEO Jeffrey L. Erdly With Top Award

ASTM International’s Committee on Performance of Buildings (E06) recently presented its top annual award—the Award of Merit—to Jeffrey L. Erdly, CEO and co-founder of Masonry Preservation Services Inc., located in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. This prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of Fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for individual contributions to the development of building restoration and performance standards.

The committee honored Erdly for his exemplary leadership, enthusiasm and tireless 
contributions to the success of ASTM. Erdly led the advancement of standards and the distribution of technical papers that continue to improve the safety, durability, and sustainability 
of the environment. He has been a member of ASTM International since 1990, and has previously received the ASTM’s Award of Appreciation (2007) and E. George Stern Award 
of Excellence (2015). 


Erdly is a nationally renowned authority on masonry preservation technology. He frequently speaks to industry and professional groups on masonry and facade inspection and repair technologies and has written numerous industry papers and articles. He is the co-editor of numerous ASTM Special Technical Publications including Building Facade Maintenance, Repair, and Inspection, which focuses on facade ordinances, data collection techniques, and material and repair techniques, and Water Leakage Through Building Facades, presenting leak diagnosis and repair techniques. He also co-chaired ASTM STP 1549: Building Walls Subject to Water Intrusion and Accumulation: Lessons from the Past and Recommendations for the Future, assisting design professionals in constructing better-performing and longer-lasting buildings.

Erdly is the CEO of Masonry Preservation Services (MPS) and has served in that capacity
since 1985. In this role he is responsible for initial investigation, pilot projects, analysis, and remediation recommendations on all MPS projects. In addition to ASTM, Erdly is a member of the Association for Preservation Technology; RCI; and the Sealant, Waterproofing, and Restoration Institute.
