Slag Shipments in U.S. Continues to Grow
The Slag Cement Association (SCA) announces that slag cement shipments in 2017 exhibited a 14 percent growth over 2016. Last year the SCA reported that 2016 shipments grew 12 percent over 2015 totals as well, showcasing an increasing demand for slag cement within the U.S. market.
“As consumers are becoming more aware of the variety of benefits and applications associated with slag cement use in construction, they also start to rely on its consistency,” said Ed Griffith, President, Slag Cement Association. “The reliability of the product seems to go over well with the industry, it’s nice to see the shipping trends reflect this industry awareness.”
In the last year, the SCA has placed an increased focus on providing the concrete industry tools to showcase the availability of slag cement in the United States. One of the more recent tools added to the associations website is a slag cement locator. Visitors to the website will be able to select a state and view the contact information for local slag cement distributors. As the interest in slag cement continues to grow, it is important to provide the industry with an up to date method for finding providers within their local area.
